# App overview

A complete overview of the Customer Photo Uploader Shopify app: Dashboard, Photos, Product and Custom Galleries, Plans, and Settings explained.

This guide provides a complete overview of the Customer Photo Uploader app, from installation to managing your first customer photos. By following the [**link to the installation guide**](/user-manual/getting-started/installation-instructions), you can quickly integrate photo upload capabilities into your Shopify store via the Customer Photo Uploader application and begin collecting valuable user-generated content (UGC).

This overview covers the main sections of the app:

### [Dashboard ](/user-manual/app-pages/dashboard) <a href="#dashboard" id="dashboard"></a>

Your central command center. The **Dashboard** gives you an at-a-glance view of your UGC performance. You can monitor your most recent submissions, the statuses of the uploaded photos, and redact them as well. It also features a Help block, where you can choose the most convenient way of getting assistance - via the Help Center or by reaching the Support team directly.

***

### [Photos ](/user-manual/app-pages/photos) <a href="#photos" id="photos"></a>

Your central content library. The **Photos** page is where every image submitted by your customers is stored. This is your primary hub for content management, allowing you to moderate new submissions with one-click approval, assign photos to relevant galleries, link your products to the photos, and manage your entire UGC collection before it's displayed on your site.

***

### [Product Galleries ](/user-manual/app-pages/product-galleries) <a href="#product-galleries" id="product-galleries"></a>

The **Product Galleries** section is used to configure the display of customer photos on individual product pages. Users can manage the content of each gallery, assign a photo from one gallery to a few others, reject, approve, remove from the gallery, or delete the photos completely.

***

### [Custom Galleries ](/user-manual/app-pages/custom-galleries) <a href="#custom-galleries" id="custom-galleries"></a>

The **Custom Galleries** feature enables the creation of standalone photo galleries for use on various pages of the website, such as the homepage or dedicated landing pages. Users can select specific images from the main photo library to assemble curated collections. Each custom gallery can then be embedded into the desired location on the Shopify store.

***

### [Pricing](/user-manual/app-pages/plans)

The **Pricing** page provides an overview of your current plan and available subscription options. You can compare features across all plans and choose the best fit for your store.

***

### [Settings ](/user-manual/app-pages/settings) <a href="#settings" id="settings"></a>

The **Settings** page brings together all the app configuration options. Here you can edit and translate the customer-facing texts of the upload widget, manage email notifications, control content moderation (including automatic photo approval, the Shoppable tab, and the default photo sorting order), set up integrations, and enable the Legacy theme mode for older themes.

# Gallery widget configuration

Customize your photo gallery widget: layout (Slider, Grid, Masonry), titles and texts, slider navigation, and the customer upload form settings.

After adding the Gallery to your Apps section in the Theme Template, you can edit it and adjust it to the design of your website. There is a list of fields and appearances that can be changed.

**Exact gallery you’d like to add on a specific page**

* In case you’re adding a Gallery to a Product Template, you can select if you want to have a general gallery appearance on each product in the template, or customize the fields of a specific product separately.
* In case you’re adding a Custom Gallery to a specific page, you can change the page on which this gallery will appear.

**Demo mode**

{% hint style="info" %}
Allows you to review how your gallery will look on a store’s website once it’s filled with photos. We’re providing you with test pictures, but in the theme editor only.
{% endhint %}

**Custom widget width (px)**

{% hint style="info" %}
You can define the widget width by yourself, or leave a 0 value so the gallery will adapt to the width of your site's container.
{% endhint %}

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Header" %}
Here you can configure the texts of your gallery. It can be customized for the situation, when there are already some photos in the gallery, or when it’s empty. Review the list of fields that could be edited:

{% hint style="info" %}
If you don’t need a title on your gallery, you can put the toggle into the **OFF** position.
{% endhint %}

* **Subtitle**
* **Subtitle for empty gallery**

{% hint style="info" %}
If you don’t need a subtitle on your gallery, you can put the toggle into the **OFF** position.
{% endhint %}

* **Button CSS class**

{% hint style="info" %}
To ensure a consistent design, you might want to use the same CSS classes for our 'Upload' button as your theme uses.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Layout settings" %}
This settings block allows you to customize the appearance of the gallery when there are already some photos in it. You can also manage the number of slides for each of the device types.

Review the list of fields that could be edited here:

* **Show gallery**

{% hint style="info" %}
In case you don’t require a specific gallery on your Store anymore, you can always disable it.
{% endhint %}

* **Layout**\
  This setting offers you 3 options - **Slider,** **Grid,** and **Masonry** mode.
  * **Grid:** You can depict your photos in a gallery all at once, which means your page will look longer, depending on the number of photos in your gallery.
  * **Slider:** The gallery will always have the same size on your page, as the photos can be seen via pages by turning them via a slider.
  * **Masonry:** Your photos will be arranged in an organic, mosaic-like layout that optimizes space by placing images of different sizes together without gaps, giving your page a dynamic and modern look.
* **Images per row to show on**
  * desktop
  * mobile
* **Number of rows on**
  * desktop
  * mobile
* **Enable lightbox gallery**

{% hint style="info" %}
Allows your customers to see the description of the image that you or other customers left about your products or store.
{% endhint %}

* **Shoppable gallery**
  * right
  * bottom

{% hint style="info" %}
Choose the position of the product cards linked to your photos inside the lightbox, or disable them for this widget. By default, the Shoppable gallery is displayed on the right side. On mobile devices, the cards always appear at the bottom for better usability. Your customers will see each linked product as a card with the "View Product" button and can temporarily hide the cards using the tag icon.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Slider settings" %}
Configure the appearance and functioning of the slider on your gallery with the following settings:

* **Navigation arrows**

{% hint style="info" %}
The setup options include disabling the arrows completely or enabling them only on a particular device type.
{% endhint %}

* **Arrows position**
  * Inner
  * Outer
* **Navigation dots**

{% hint style="info" %}
Can be disabled completely or enabled only on a particular device type.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Upload form settings" %}
This block is responsible for the pop-up form that the customer sees when uploading the photo to the gallery. Depending on your store’s policy and needs, adjust the settings.

By default, the Uploading of photos by your customers to the Gallery is allowed, but in case you don’t want it, there is a possibility to **disable the “Upload” button.**

Other configuration options include:

* Email request
  * Enabled
  * Disabled

The app will automatically open this link in a new tab for your customers.

* Uploading - meaning it’s still in process.
* Uploaded - successfully added.
* Failed - the file size or format is not supported by the app, so the photo is not added.

### Structure of the Photos page <a href="#structure-of-the-photos-page" id="structure-of-the-photos-page"></a>

For your convenience, the photos on the page are broken into views by status for easier navigation. The list of views:

### Editing the Photos <a href="#editing-the-photos" id="editing-the-photos"></a>

After adding the photo to the Customer Photo Uploader application, either by you or your customer, there are several different editing and managing actions that can be taken.

#### Change the status of the photo <a href="#change-the-status-of-the-photo" id="change-the-status-of-the-photo"></a>

The photo can have the following statuses:

* **Processing.** The photo is being uploaded to the application.
  * This is an automatic and temporary status.
* **Pending.** The picture should be reviewed and set up with either Rejected or Approved status. Until then, it’s not visible on the website.
  * This status can be chosen during the upload of the photo by the store owner or after the customer has added the photo.
* **Rejected**. The photo has been decided not to be reflected on the store’s website.
  * To reject the photo, you can use the Reject button near the specific picture, or reject several photos at once by using bulk editing.

    <figure><img src="/files/NBdKFMOBRz5EZrb8C545" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
* **Approved**. The image will appear in the set gallery or on the product page on the store’s website.
  * To reject the photo, you can use the Approve button near the specific picture, or approve several photos at once by using bulk editing.

    <figure><img src="/files/lEI3tSGfKL9CqLocioyL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Assign the photo to the gallery <a href="#assign-the-photo-to-the-gallery" id="assign-the-photo-to-the-gallery"></a>

To add the uploaded picture to a specific gallery - customer or product, utilize the **Manage galleries** button.

<figure><img src="/files/JHixFN94vpw3x9JeIsXl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After clicking the button, the window with the following fields opens:

1. In the first field, you can choose which Custom Galleries you’d like to reflect the photo in. All the Custom Galleries chosen for a picture are shown in the top left corner.
2. The second field stands for the Product Galleries that could be chosen for the specific picture as well.

{% hint style="info" %}
The number of available Custom and Product Galleries of choice for an image depends on your Customer Photo Uploader subscription plan.
{% endhint %}

#### SEO image data editing <a href="#rename-the-photos-title-and-the-files-name" id="rename-the-photos-title-and-the-files-name"></a>

It’s also possible to change the SEO data - Photo Alt and Title of the image that was uploaded, and edit the name of its file. You can do that by simply editing the respective fields in the specific photo section.

<figure><img src="/files/KU1hXuUF9ULCNxLyCGMu" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
We highly recommend filling your Photo Alt/Title field with the image-related description to improve your SEO results.
{% endhint %}

#### Link products to the photo (Shoppable)

The **Shoppable** tab allows you to link your store's products directly to the photos, turning your galleries into a shoppable experience for your customers.

To link the products, switch the data view above the photo list to **Shoppable** and click the **Link products** button near the specific photo. In the native Shopify selection window, you can choose up to 4 products per photo.

All the linked products are displayed near the photo as cards with a counter (e.g., 1/4). To remove a product, click the "x" on its card; to add more, use the **Link product** button.

On your storefront, the linked products appear inside the lightbox when a customer opens the photo, each with a "View Product" button leading to the product page. You can configure the position of the Shoppable gallery in your [Theme editor settings](https://docs.customer-photo-uploader.app/user-manual/getting-started/gallery-widget-configuration).

<figure><img src="/files/KRilD5fqEQ5zzw2WdV8C" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
The visibility of the Shoppable tab in your admin is managed on the [Settings page, Content Moderation tab](https://docs.customer-photo-uploader.app/user-manual/app-pages/settings/content-moderation).
{% endhint %}

#### Manage the image description and utilize the customer's email <a href="#delete-the-photo" id="delete-the-photo"></a>

After enabling the Upload data settings toggle on the Settings page, Content Moderation tab, you'll see the option to switch between different data options for each image. Read more about enabling this setting [here](/user-manual/app-pages/settings/content-moderation#upload-data-settings).

**Upload Data** includes the fields of Description and Email, with the empty space or the information filled in by your client.

<figure><img src="/files/HAiKjlrjGG16DqzgzKVs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You're always able to change the Description field of the image, or upload your text to the added image to make it work for your brand.

Additionally, you can utilize the customers' emails for the marketing campaigns and extension of the returning purchases. If you need any assistance to set this up with the Shopify Flow, please read [this article](/user-manual/app-pages/settings/integration) or contact us at <support@customer-photo-uploader.app>.&#x20;

To make the info from the Description field visible for your customers during review of the photo in the gallery on your store, please turn on the toggle for the "**Show photo description"** setting in the widget, as mentioned [here.](/user-manual/getting-started/gallery-widget-configuration#layout-settings)

#### Delete the photo <a href="#delete-the-photo" id="delete-the-photo"></a>

Additionally, you can review your approved photos in the Files in your Shopify Admin.

However, please be aware that if you edit the image directly in your Shopify Files section, the changes will be reflected on your website, but they will not be reflected inside the Customer Photo Uploader app. The app will continue to display the original, unedited version.

### FAQs about Product Galleries page <a href="#faq-about-product-galleries-page" id="faq-about-product-galleries-page"></a>

<details>

<summary>How do I edit a specific Product Gallery in Customer Photo Uploader?</summary>

Go to the Product Galleries page and select the product you want to edit. You’ll be redirected to that product’s gallery page, where you can review, upload, reassign, approve, reject, or remove photos. [Read more details here.](https://app.gitbook.com/o/jDrGly5oBnzLoU810gsv/s/ovhRTPVfyGDO7Ql07QPK/~/changes/7/app-pages/product-galleries#editing-the-product-gallery)&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is the difference between uploading photos here and on the Photos page?</summary>

On the Photos page, you upload photos to the Customer Photo Uploader app library, making them available for use across multiple products and galleries. Also, while uploading, you can only choose the Custom Gallery to add the photo right away. Still, you’ll be able to assign the photo to a Product Gallery later.

On the Product Galleries page, you can upload photos directly to a specific product’s gallery or add existing photos from the library using the Choose from existing option, but to add the picture to the Custom Gallery, you’ll need to do that via the Manage galleries button.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I add the same photo to multiple Product Galleries?</summary>

Yes. If you want the same photo to appear on more than one product, you can use the Choose from existing button in another Product Gallery or assign it via the Manage galleries option on the Photos page. However, remember that there are limitations for each plan.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I delete a photo from a Product Gallery?</summary>

Open the product’s gallery, find the photo you want to remove, and select the **Remove from this gallery** option. This way, the picture will be erased from a specific product’s gallery, but you’ll be able to add it to any other or to the Customer Gallery later via the Photos page.

To delete the photo completely from the Customer Photo Uploader app, use the Delete button on any of the pages in the application.

### FAQs about the Custom Galleries page <a href="#faq-about-the-custom-galleries-page" id="faq-about-the-custom-galleries-page"></a>

<details>

<summary> How do Custom Galleries differ from Product Galleries?</summary>

Custom Galleries are not linked to a specific product and can be created for any page (e.g., “Home Page Gallery” or “Summer Promo”). Product Galleries, on the other hand, are tied to individual products and display photos only on those product pages.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What do the statuses “Hidden” and “Visible” mean on a gallery?</summary>

A **Visible** gallery is available for you to choose in the Customize mode of your Theme editor, and therefore can be shown on your store or designated page, while a **Hidden** gallery is not displayed to customers. You can toggle these statuses individually or through bulk editing.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Will deleting a photo from a Custom Gallery remove it from the app completely?</summary>

No. Removing a photo from a Custom Gallery only unlinks it from that gallery. The photo will remain in the app library and can be added to other Custom or Product Galleries at any time.

</details>

&#x20;

Yes, Shopify manages billing automatically. Your subscription will be adjusted at the time of the change.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I use the Development plan after already starting the Trial Period on any of the paid plans?</summary>

Yes, before you were charged for the Basic or Grow plan, you can switch to the Development plan (in case your store is eligible for that) absolutely for free.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens after my store transitions to a production one and I’m on a Development plan?</summary>

&#x20;Your access to the app’s functionality will be stopped until you choose the Basic or Grow plan for future app utilization. The photos and galleries won’t be deleted, but they also won’t be shown on your store’s website until the paid subscription starts.

# Email notifications

Set up email notifications from Customer Photo Uploader: choose the recipient address, system updates, and summary reports on uploaded photos.

The **Notification Settings** section allows you to manage all email notifications sent from the **Customer Photo Uploader** app. Here, you can decide who receives updates, what type of updates are sent, and how often they are delivered.

#### **Email Data**

This section defines the main email address where all app-related notifications will be sent.

* **Email address for notifications**\
  \
  Enter or update the email address you want to use for receiving notifications from the app. For example, you can enter your team’s shared inbox or a specific manager’s email address. By default, the Store owner's email is set up.

{% hint style="success" %}
You can change this address at any time if your communication channel changes.
{% endhint %}

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/bA8NIgdnGtSiS8ud8iSY" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

#### **System Notifications**

These notifications keep you informed about system-related updates from the Customer Photo Uploader app, such as new feature announcements, additional assistance, or important service alerts.

* **Enable system notifications:**&#x20;
  * When **ON**, you’ll receive all system updates directly to your email.
  * When **OFF**, you’ll stop receiving app-wide notifications, which may cause you to miss news or important updates about the app’s performance.

{% hint style="success" %}
This setting is recommended to **keep enabled** so your team remains informed about product changes and improvements.
{% endhint %}

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/l0VVXBw64wYVk9grUbvK" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

#### **Summary Notifications**&#x20;

> <mark style="color:blue;">**Grow plan features**</mark>

Summary notifications provide regular reports about your galleries’ activity and customer photo uploads.

* **Uploaded photos notifications** \
  \
  When enabled, you’ll receive an email summary that includes the overall number of the uploaded photos per the Product and the Custom galleries' types. It helps you understand engagement trends and gallery performance.<br>

  You can choose how often to receive these summary emails:

  * **Daily** – get a quick update every day.
  * **Weekly** – receive a summary once per week.
  * **Monthly** – receive a report at the end of each month.

{% hint style="success" %}
This is particularly useful for tracking customer activity and measuring participation over time.
{% endhint %}

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/FiI5nHCKF79dzzx1kFAN" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

* **Enable the auto-approve notifications** \
  \
  If your store uses the **auto-approve** feature, which automatically approves uploaded photos, this section allows you to track its performance through email updates.\
  \
  You can choose how often to receive these summary emails:
  * **Daily**
  * **Weekly**
  * **Monthly**

{% hint style="info" %}
This setting will become visible only when you enable the Auto-approve feature in the [Content Moderation](/user-manual/app-pages/settings/content-moderation) tab.
{% endhint %}

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/4ZWyr54NLxmMftN7fRDS" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Content moderation

Control how customer photos go live: approve each upload manually or enable auto-approval to publish photos to your galleries instantly.

This page allows you to control how photos uploaded by your customers are handled, giving you the choice between automatic publishing or manual review.&#x20;

By default, the manual photo management is available for every Customer Photo Uploader client. To utilize the Automatic photo approval functionality, the store's plan is supposed to be **Grow.**

#### Automatic photo approval

This section allows you to enable the automatic publishing of the uploaded photos to your galleries by your customers. It saves your time and provides an opportunity to focus on other important business processes.

**Enable the auto-approval**

* When **ON**, all photos uploaded by your customers will be automatically published to your store's galleries straight away, skipping the moderation step.
* When **OFF**, all submitted photos will be held for manual review. You will need to approve each photo from the moderation queue before it appears in your public galleries.

<figure><img src="/files/Pg0VLPYzk2ib7icSL5mK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
After turning on the photos' auto-approve function, make sure to also enable the summary email notifications about this feature's performance in the [Email Notifications](/user-manual/app-pages/settings/email-notifications) tab.
{% endhint %}

On the [Photos page](/user-manual/app-pages/photos), we've defined the manually approved photos with the **Approved** status and the automatically approved with the **Auto-approved.** These statuses let you filter more easily which you need to review in case of any suspects, and which have already been approved by you or your team manually.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/WmQTIWn3w1ywO1lytCgq" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Upload data settings

This setting allows you to view and manage more data about the uploaded photos in your Admin part of the application. It includes the information from the Description and Email fields that your customers fill out while uploading the photo.

<figure><img src="/files/Znq4q1FTFy3qSVaWKKIP" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After turning the toggle on and saving the changes in the top bar, you can return to the Photos or Galleries pages, where you'll see a new option of the info shown for you about the particular image.

<figure><img src="/files/jQyRbkR91OwmiLbCeIjH" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Read more about further interaction with the SEO Data and Upload Data fields [here.](/user-manual/app-pages/photos#delete-the-photo)

### Shoppable settings

This section allows you to turn your galleries into a shoppable experience, guiding buyers to the exact products featured in your photos so they can easily buy them.

<figure><img src="/files/RSGzH7w0j5uL5xqo3Hw4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Enable Shoppable tab in admin**

* When **ON**, a "Shoppable" tab appears in your photo listings on the Photos, Product Galleries, and Custom Galleries pages. There, you can link products to each image (up to 4 products per photo) using the native Shopify product selection window.
* When **OFF**, the Shoppable tab is hidden in your admin.

The Shoppable functionality is available on all Customer Photo Uploader plans.

Once the products are linked, they appear in the lightbox on your storefront when a customer opens the photo. By default, the Shoppable gallery is displayed on the right side of the photo. You can change its position or disable it in your Theme editor settings. [Read more about it here.](https://docs.customer-photo-uploader.app/user-manual/getting-started/gallery-widget-configuration#shoppable-gallery)

### Photo sorting order

This setting defines the default order in which approved photos are displayed in your galleries.

<figure><img src="/files/TKKZspGtdvxLx7Vy2HFw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can choose between the two options:

* **Newest first** — the most recently added photos appear at the beginning of each gallery.
* **Oldest first** — the earliest added photos appear first.

The selected order applies to all your galleries at once. If you'd like to arrange photos differently in a specific gallery, you can override the global order on that gallery's page, including the Manual mode for your own custom arrangement.

# Integration

Connect Customer Photo Uploader with Shopify Flow: build custom notification workflows triggered by photo uploads and approvals.

On this page, you can review which other Shopify applications the Customer Photo Uploader application can be connected to, bringing more value to your store.

[Shopify Flow](https://apps.shopify.com/flow) is the first application that can be integrated with the Customer Photo Uploader.

<figure><img src="/files/ErNOor5KqMcQ98lBiPvC" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Notifications Integration with the [Shopify Flow](https://apps.shopify.com/flow)

The Customer Photo Uploader offers some notification options in the[ Email Notifications tab](/user-manual/app-pages/settings/email-notifications) of the Settings page. Some of those notifications can be utilized by every client, but some extended notifications are only for the clients with the **Grow plan.**&#x20;

Nonetheless, to allow our clients to stay tuned with their galleries' performance, we've created options to build your own notifications flow in the[ Shopify Flow](https://apps.shopify.com/flow) app.

#### The flow-building instructions

{% hint style="info" %}
In the example instructions, we show only one trigger and one condition option, as it's general for all others, and you can follow the same steps, just using the trigger and condition that suits your needs.
{% endhint %}

1. Install the [Shopify Flow](https://apps.shopify.com/flow) application from the Shopify App Store if it's not on your store yet.
2. Open the application and push the "Create workflow" button.<br>

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/5SLXxJaYx4tKvmNtpOd0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
3. Use the "Select a trigger" button.<br>

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/P09teIqq9LnIbEgOheYV" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
4. From the apps list on the left, choose GWA: Customer Photo Uploader application.<br>

   <figure><img src="/files/qylaFi4Ukjl2F7mvWlL6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
5. We provide 2 trigger options:&#x20;

   1. CPU Photo Approved - each photo approval in the app will trigger the flow.
   2. CPU Photo Uploaded - Each uploaded photo on the gallery will trigger the flow.

   Choose the needed option for your flow, for example, CPU Photo Approved.<br>

   <figure><img src="/files/cjwppY5GNvZnXN5SL7q8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
6. Tap on the "+" icon near the Trigger block to add a Condition or an Action straight away.

{% endcolumn %}

{% column %}

<figure><img src="/files/3v0r8YUGQeGnrg9EgNMc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endcolumn %}
{% endcolumns %}

7. If your flow requires a condition, you can choose it from the list that opens via the "Add a variable" button.<br>

   <figure><img src="/files/YnzEwRZ6kqgrkWFwPoZd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
8. Choose the variable, for instance, `customerEmail.` <br>

   <figure><img src="/files/0xMRwMcov7txkjymf18m" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
9. For example, if you only want to receive notifications about the approved photos that were uploaded, with emails left in the submission form. <br>

   <figure><img src="/files/8GkH0MmMSDJOOJkYbLeG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
10. When the Condition is set up, you can continue with choosing an Action. Tap on the "+" icon near the Condition block to add an Action.<br>

    <figure><img src="/files/iS42Yfixh5h8PTiT06a4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
11. In the Search field, write the word "email" to more easily locate the needed trigger. The one you're looking for is **Send internal email**.<br>

    <figure><img src="/files/89I42swbv3E1XQWJOxgG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
12. Fill in all the necessary fields.<br>

    <figure><img src="/files/DoemgTQj3YUXpu5gI0Ux" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
13. After revising the flow and its correction, turn it on.<br>

# Legacy Themes Mode

This page explains how to ensure Customer Photo Uploader galleries work correctly on older Shopify themes that do not support Online Store 2.0 (OS 2.0) features like App Theme Blocks. By using **Legacy Theme Mode**, you can still display customized galleries on your site using a simple code snippet and **App Embed Blocks**.

### Main Configuration <a href="#main-configuration" id="main-configuration"></a>

Navigate to the [Settings page](https://docs.customer-photo-uploader.app/user-manual/~/revisions/9v7ePcmfNjvZqJ36WLM6/app-pages/settings) in the application, Legacy Theme Mode tab.

**Enable Legacy Theme Mode:** This toggle switch activates compatibility for older themes.

* **When On:** Standard **App Theme Blocks** are disabled, and global **App Embed Blocks** are activated. This mode allows you to manually place galleries using a code snippet.
* **When Off:** The app operates in standard OS 2.0 mode using App Theme Blocks.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Important Note:** If you enable this mode on a theme that supports OS 2.0 and already has active App Theme Blocks, those blocks will disappear from your storefront. A confirmation modal will appear to prevent accidental activation.
{% endhint %}

### Installation Steps <a href="#installation-steps" id="installation-steps"></a>

Setting up the Customer Photo Uploader gallery on a legacy theme involves a hybrid approach: inserting a small piece of code and configuring global blocks.

#### 1. Add Code Snippet <a href="#id-1.-add-code-snippet" id="id-1.-add-code-snippet"></a>

To tell the app where to display your gallery, you need to add a specific HTML tag to your theme's code or page content:

* **Code to copy:** `<div id="gwa-cpu-gallery"></div>`
* **Where to place it:** Insert this tag into your Liquid files (e.g., `index.liquid`, `product.liquid`) or via the "Custom HTML" block in your page editor, exactly where you want the gallery to appear.

#### 2. Enable Embed Blocks <a href="#id-2.-enable-embed-blocks" id="id-2.-enable-embed-blocks"></a>

Unlike standard blocks that you drag and drop, Legacy Mode uses global switches. Navigate to your **Shopify Theme Customizer** -> **App Embeds** and enable:

* **CPU - Product Gallery:** Controls settings for all galleries on product pages.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: If you have already added `<div id="gwa-cpu-gallery"></div>` to your theme code, you will immediately see a preview of this block in the Theme Customizer on the corresponding page.
{% endhint %}

* **CPU - Custom Gallery:** Controls settings for all other galleries (Home page, About Us, etc.).

#### 3. Theme Scanning & Mapping <a href="#id-3.-theme-scanning-and-mapping" id="id-3.-theme-scanning-and-mapping"></a>

Once the code is inserted, you need to link specific templates to your galleries.

**Scan Theme:** Click this button to let the app automatically search your `.liquid` files for the gallery tag. If found, the app will automatically create a connection (e.g., linking your Home page template to your Home gallery).

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/DsLjyZDcSxOZ3Z8MLr4v" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

**Manage Mappings:** This table shows all active connections between your theme templates and CPU galleries.

* **Automatic Mappings:** Results found by the "Scan Theme" tool.
* **Manual Mappings:** If you added the code via the Shopify Admin (Custom HTML blocks) or if the scanner missed it, use the **"Add Mapping"** button to manually select a Template and the corresponding Gallery.

### Block Settings <a href="#block-settings" id="block-settings"></a>

Since Embed Blocks act as global switches, the settings you configure within the Theme Customizer (layout, colors, text) will apply to **all** galleries of that type across your store.

* **Product Gallery Settings:** Apply to the gallery of the currently viewed product.
* **Custom Gallery Settings:** Apply to specific galleries mapped to non-product templates.

### FAQ about Legacy Theme Mode <a href="#faq-about-legacy-theme-mode" id="faq-about-legacy-theme-mode"></a>

<details>

<summary>Will enabling Legacy Mode slow down my store?</summary>

No. We use a lightweight JavaScript "injection" method. The script only runs after your main page content has loaded, ensuring that your customers' experience remains fast and stable.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I’ve added the code and enabled the block, but the gallery is still not appearing. What’s wrong?</summary>

Please check the following:

1. Is the **Enable Legacy Theme Mode** toggle switched **ON** in the app settings?
2. Is the corresponding **App Embed Block** (Product or Custom) toggled **ON** in your Shopify Theme Customizer?
3. Is the ID in your code snippet exactly `<div id="gwa-cpu-gallery"></div>`? Even a small typo will prevent the gallery from loading.
4. Or reach out to our Support Team at <support@customer-photo-uploader.app> for personal assistance with the application setup.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens to the code if I uninstall the app?</summary>

The `<div>` tag you added will remain in your theme code, but it will be empty and invisible to your customers. You can safely remove it from your liquid files at any time.

</details>
